Harry Dunn's Lawyers Berate Tucker Carlson for Attack on 1/6 Riot Officer

Lawyers representing Harry Dunn issued a blistering riposte after Tucker Carlson attacked the Capitol police officer over his alleged left-wing political leanings.

Acting through his attorneys, officer Dunn hit out at Fox News host Carlson, who had questioned his eligibility to speak in an unbiased way at the January 6 committee.

In an extraordinary response to Carlson's remarks, made during the Wednesday night segment of his show, Dunn's lawyers said their client would "lay his life down" to protect lawmakers from both sides of the aisle."

In a statement shared on Twitter late on Wednesday by Mark Zaid, one of Dunn's lawyers, Carlson was blasted for criticizing the officer who has 13 years of service under his belt.

The statement read: "Tonight Fox News allowed its host Tucker Carlson, who has not served a day in uniform, whether military or law enforcement, to criticize the heroism and service of African-American U.S. Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn.

"Our client has served 13 years in law enforcement and on January 6, 2021, fought against an insurrectionist violent crowd - no doubt many of them Carlson's supporters - to protect the lives of our elected officials, including Vice President Pence."

The statement continued: "Officer Dunn, who would lay down his life to protect a Member of Congress, regardless of being a Republican or Democrat, will testify next Tuesday before the House Select Committee investigating the events of the insurrection.

"Frankly, the last thing Carlson wants is for the truth to emerge of what happened that day and why."

The blistering statement was issued after the Fox News host questioned the legitimacy of the January 6 committee.

Carlson said: "Speaking of disingenuous, so the committee will proceed with one party. What will it look like? Think MSNBC with subpoena power.

"On Tuesday, Pelosi will call a Capitol police officer called Harry Dunn. Dunn will pretend to speak for the country's law enforcement community. But, it turns out Dunn has very little in common with your average cop. Dunn is an angry left-wing political activist whose social media feeds are full of praise, not coincidentally, for Nancy Pelosi. There's a picture of the two of them together.

He then proceeded to read out a July 18, 2019, tweet from Dunn, which read: "'Racism is so American,' Harry Dunn wrote in one post 'that when you protest it, people think that you are protesting America. #leaveittowhitestotellblackswhatisntracist #IStandWithIlhanOmar #squad.'"

"Harry Dunn ladies and gentlemen, just another fact-based witness to the insurrection."

The comments came after House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy pulled his appointees from a proposed bipartisan panel to study the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol following House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's decision to reject two of his appointees, leading to claims the review will be partisan.

McCarthy (R-CA) said: "This panel has lost all legitimacy and credibility. Pelosi has broken this institution."

Pelosi earlier questioned the appointments of Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Jim Banks (R-IN) and said they could compromise the "integrity of the investigation."

She said: "With respect for the integrity of the investigation, with an insistence on the truth and with concern about statements made and actions taken by these Members, I must reject the recommendations of Representatives Banks and Jordan to the Select Committee."

Both Rep. Banks and Rep. Jordan were among the 139 House Republicans who voted to overturn the 2020 Presidential Election results in Arizona and Pennsylvania when voting resumed after Trump supporters stormed the Capitol.
