'Harry Potter' Actor Tom Felton Collapses During Ryder Cup Golf Tournament

Harry Potter actor Tom Felton collapsed during a golf tournament after suffering an apparent medical incident on Thursday.

The 34-year-old actor best known for portraying Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter movie series was carted off the Whistling Straits course in Sheboygan, Wisconsin on Thursday afternoon at the 18th hole.

Felton was competing with the Europe team for the Ryder Cup Celebrity Match. Other tournament players representing Europe included Italian soccer player Alessandro Del Piero, former NBA players Toni Kukoč and Sasha Vujačić, former NHL winger Teemu Selänne and actress Stephanie Szostak.

The U.S. team consisted of former hockey player Mike Eruzione, former NFL linebacker A.J. Hawk, speedskater Dan Jansen, comedian Rob Riggle, surfing champ Kelly Slater and WWE wrestler Mandy Rose.

After receiving immediate attention from tournament officials, Felton was laid down on a cart and driven away for further treatment as concerned spectators applauded the actor as he was taken away.

There is no immediate update on his condition, although Felton appeared to be conscious when he was taken away. Felton's team has yet to comment on the situation.

Thursday's celebrity match is part of the week-long schedule of events for the 43rd Ryder Cup, a biennial golf competition between teams from Europe and the U.S. which will kick off this weekend. The tournament is named after English businessman Samuel Ryder, who donated the trophy.

Felton, who turned 34 on Wednesday, was also known for appearing in the TV series The Flash and the movie Rise of the Planet of the Apes. For his birthday, he raised money for the Jed Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to protecting emotional health among American teens and young adults.

Felton is an avid golfer and has participated in several tournaments over the years. He's been pictured reuniting with fellow Harry Potter actor, James Phelps, who played Fred Weasley, for games in the past year.

Last year, Felton put together a virtual cast reunion for the Harry Potter series during the coronavirus pandemic.

He was only 14 years old when the first film came out and was catapulted to global fame for his breakout role and the subsequent seven films.

His real-life grandfather, Nigel Anstey, made a cameo in the first film,
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, as an unnamed Hogwarts professor. Felton posted an Instagram clip of himself earlier this year watching the film and looking at his grandfather onscreen.
