Harry Styles Beauty Brand Anticipated As Perfume and Cosmetics Company Registered

After making waves by sporting a dress on the cover of Vogue late last year, it's clear that Harry Styles is comfortable walking to the beat of his own sartorial drum.

And it is now anticipated that the former One Direction star, 27, is on the verge of taking his line-blurring further—as plans are afoot for the launch of a new beauty brand, which was registered in his name last week.

With "STYLES, Harry Edward" named on the government filing in his native U.K., the singer and actor is listed as a director, alongside Emma Spring, who has worked with the star for several years.

His company Pleased As Holding, which was incorporated on May 25, has listed its "nature of business" as providing the "wholesale of perfume and cosmetics."

The star hasn't been shy about experimenting with his style in recent years, having stepped out wearing nail varnish and accessorizing with an eclectic range of jewelry.

And he became a major talking point when he made history as the first man to grace the cover of Vogue solo—and he did so wearing a ruffled Gucci ballgown.

His December 2020 cover received both an outpouring of support and backlash from conservative commentators, one of whom demanded the world "bring back manly men."

In his accompanying interview, Styles spoke about the genesis of his love of alternative fashion, saying: "As a kid I definitely liked fancy dress."

He then went on to recall playing church mouse Barney in a school play. "I was really young, and I wore tights for that," he recalled. "I remember it was crazy to me that I was wearing a pair of tights. And that was maybe where it all kicked off!"

Weeks after the release of his Vogue cover, he bucked convention once again in a shoot for Variety, in which he sported a frill-sleeved blouse and a salmon pink silk top.

Speaking to the publication about his experimental style, Harry said: "To not wear [something] because it's females' clothing, you shut off a whole world of great clothes.

"And I think what's exciting about right now is you can wear what you like. It doesn't have to be X or Y. Those lines are becoming more and more blurred."

Should Styles take the direction of releasing makeup palettes, he'll be following in the footsteps of a host of musicians, including Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Victoria Beckham, who have all enjoyed huge success in the cosmetics industry in recent years.

Having been successful in both music and film, Styles—who is estimated to be worth $89 million—will also benefit from an enviably sizable ready-made fanbase.

Newsweek has contacted a representative for Harry Styles for comment.
