'Heartless': Fox Host Tomi Lahren Ripped for Calling Migrant Traveling 2,000 Miles With Kids A 'Sh--ty Parent'

Social media users ripped Fox Nation host Tomi Lahren on Wednesday after she called migrants who travel 2,000 miles with kids "sh--ty" parents.

Lahren has repeatedly been the subject of social media backlash in the past, but the criticisms have never stopped her from voicing her controversial opinions. "If you traipse your kid 2,000 miles in dangerous conditions you're not only a criminal, you're a sh--ty parent," Lahren, who is also a Fox News contributor, tweeted on Tuesday evening.

Lahren's remark was shared half-an-hour into the first night of the second round of the 2020 presidential debates in Detroit, where 10 Democratic candidates — including front runners Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren — discussed issues including health care, immigration, race-relations, taxes, and international affairs.

Both Sanders and former Texas congressman Beto O'Rourke referenced migrants walking 2,000 miles during their speaking time, which likely prompted Lahren's tweets. "[My administration will] assist those countries in Central America so that no family ever has to make that 2,000-mile journey," O'Rourke said, after being asked to explain why he opposes decriminalizing legal border crossings.

Moments later, Sanders referenced O'Rourke's remark. "I think the main thing that we've got to do, among many others, and Beto made this point, we've got to ask ourselves why are people walking 2,000 miles to a strange country where they don't know the language?" the senator said.

Shortly after Lahren posted the tweet, thousands of Americans took to Twitter to condemn the conservative political commentator's remark. Despite the backlash, 22,000 people also "liked" Lahren's post.

"I know this thing named Tomi just 'says horrible things' to 'be relevant,'" public defender Scott Hechinger tweeted. "But this disgusting, racist, hateful, gutless attack on mothers & fathers forced to leave their homes & risk everything to protect them & their children is dangerous & violent hate speech."

"The one where Tomi calls every single person with children who escaped the Holocaust 'a sh--ty parent,'" Onion contributor Maura Quint tweeted.

"Tomi, I have some terrible news about how California, your home state, was discovered," Twitter user @PaperWash wrote.

"How far WOULD you 'traipse' with your kid if you were trying to save their life?" Twitter user @darndifino wrote.

"If you allow your kid to say the horrible unhuman [sic] things on the internet that you do, you're a sh--ty parent!" Twitter user @BarneysNose wrote.

"If you would walk 2,000 miles to give your child a better life, rather than get murdered by the drug gangs American policy birthed, then you're the definition of a good parent," author Grant Stern tweeted.

"Tomi is a sh--ty person. Heartless," Twitter user @BlueRobotDesign wrote.

"Tell it to Jesus' parents when they went looking for a better life for their child," Twitter user @DGinLBC wrote.

"Let's face it. Put in the same situation, we allllll know Tomi wouldn't have the guts to sacrifice what's necessary for her family to have a better life. Based on her own assertion in this tweet, that's the kind of sh*tty parent SHE would be," Twitter user @gaijingirl2004 wrote.
