'Help Is on the Way': Cat Races Home After Hearing Her Kitten Crying

A cat mom has gone viral for running back home faster than light when she heard her little kitten crying for her from the balcony.

In the video, shared on TikTok by the cat's owner, who goes by the username smokepresley, Priscilla the cat, who had just left for an afternoon walk, can be seen sprinting back home as soon as her kitten starts crying for her from their balcony.

According to research from PetKeen, domestic cats can run up to 30 miles per hour, but their speed also depends on their age, motivation, breed, and health.

Under the age of 2, cats are not mentally or physically developed enough to run fast. They reach their peak speed when they're between 2 and 4 years old. And after they reach 4 their speed will be declining.

Cats that are most motivated to run fast are usually stray and feral cats, who developed this skill as a means for survival, to run away from danger and chase down prey.

Breed also affects a cat's speed. The Egyptian Mau is listed in the Guinness World Records as the fastest cat breed. The larger and heavier the cat is, the slower they get.

Health is another factor that affects cats' speed. According to PetKeen, the healthier the cat, the faster they can run. A cat that is suffering from a health condition or is injured won't be able to run that quickly.

TikTokers loved the video, which has so far reached over 2.3 million and almost 20k comments in less than 24 hours. One user, Skai Jackson, commented: "Priscilla a city girl but when her babies need her she gonna be right there." Kirstie Lee said: "It really sounded like she talked back and said "yeah I am""

Some users argued Priscilla was mad at her owner. Ren commented: "Priscilla said you're not my real dad." Danielle said: "sounded like she said leave me alone." And Bethany Sheppard added: "I'm dying." Jillian wrote: "The sass she gave back lmao."

Karibeanbunny joked: "redefine call ur mother lol," Berenice Zambrano said: "mama kitty got bills to pay." And Buggie added: "Dang Priscilla still wants to be a party girl."

Mori commented: "you pulled a Michael Jackson and she wasn't having it!" Chels said: "Please why did she say "Yeah yeah!!" Like you were nagging her." And Courtney Jaquis wrote: "help is on the way dear!" HunniXBabii added: "HER ATTITUDE." "She looked at him all sassy and said leave me alone" said Mary McIntosh.
