HGTV's 'Fixer Upper' Stars Chip And Joanna Gaines Announce TV Return

For those missing their Fixer Upper fix, good news is on the horizon.

HGTV stars Chip and Joanna Gaines announced they will be returning to television duing an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Friday, a little over seven months since their popular television show Fixer Upper ended.

The couple—who also have a home goods line with Target, a furniture line, numerous books, a bed and breakfast, a resturant and a large retail center in Waco, Texas—will partner with the Discovery Network, HGTV's parent company, to create a channel called the Magnolia Network.

The Gaineses will have a minority stake in the network, which is expected to replace an underperforming network in the Discovery lineup, USA Today reported.

The channel is expected to start up somewhere in the next 12 to 18 months.

"You are going to get to see the kids grow up. You are going to see us—well, maybe a six-month delay, like the rest of the world—but we are excited to be back," Chip said on The Tonight Show.

"So we actually partnered with [CEO] David Zaslav and Discovery.... I think we're going to really carve it out in a way that makes sense to us and our family," Chip said. "It's going to be filmed a lot in Waco, Texas, so we don't have to travel a whole lot. So with all things being equal, we're really excited."

Discovery confirmed the news in a statement released to media on Saturday, saying, "Discovery is thrilled to confirm that we are in exclusive talks with Chip and Joanna Gaines. The Gaineses are exceptional people, true authentic storytellers and creative visionaries who will nourish millions of people with quality, family-friendly programming accessible on a 24/7 network and across all screens."

In a statement issued to People, Magnolia spokeperson John Marsicano said, "We're excited to share that we are currently in the early stages of talking with Discovery about a lifestyle-focused media network for Magnolia. The details surrounding this opportunity remain a work in progress, but together, our hope is to build a different kind of platform for unique, inspiring and family-friendly content."

Fixer Upper ran for five years on the HGTV network and catapaulted the Gaineses to fame and the expansion of their real estate and home renovation business, along with Magnolia, Joanna's home decor boutique. The Magnolia brand includes the couple's restaurant, a monthly magazine, and several additional home goods brands and a furniture line.

The couple welcomed their fifth child, a boy named Crew, in June. Joanna released her home design book, Homebody: A Guide to Creating Spaces You Never Want to Leave, on Tuesday.
