In a later video, bajabutterflies explained: "Everybody is safe. The dog is fine and didn't get hurt. We let them out for five minutes, looked over and she's in the hole. I don't know what to tell you."

She also confirmed how they rescued Lexie: "My aunt climbed up the pole, handed the dog to my dad and dad was able to pull Lexi out." She said that getting the dog back took no longer than five minutes.

The structure on the mountain is part of the ruins of multiple structures that used to sit atop the popular hiking destination Echo Mountain. Connected with a full railway system called the Mount Lowe Railway that would bring tourists from the lower Pasadena up to the mountain to the Mount Lowe resort that was, in its day, one of the most popular tourist attractions in California. Buildings included a 70-room Victorian hotel named Echo Mountain House, the 40-room Echo Chalet, an astronomical observatory, car barns, dormitories, a casino, and even a dance hall.

In 1900, a kitchen fire destroyed the incredible Echo Mountain House, and shortly afterward in 1905, another fire destroyed the rest of the Echo buildings, leaving only the observatory and astronomer's cabin. Natural disasters continued to eat away at the mountain's magnificent structures, and in 1928 a gale-force wind toppled the observatory. The Mount Lowe Railway was officially abandoned in 1938 when rains washed almost everything from the mountainside. Today, only the ruins of buildings and hiking trails remain.

In stitches at the video, TikTok users commented on Lexie the dog's adventure. One commenter wrote: "She looks very happy with her situation," while another joked: "The dog's face throughout was hilarious."

"She's having the time of her life," wrote another commenter.

Another dog called King also makes an appearance in the viral video, before the voice from behind the camera shouts to stop him from also jumping in to join the other pup.

"The other dog looking to jump in too was hilarious," said one commenter. "I saw the other dog on the ledge and screamed," wrote another viewer.

"This is hilarious, glad everyone got out," said another TikToker. While one commenter wrote: "I don't even know where to start. This is the best thing I'll see probably ever."
