Fans Demand Lady Gaga Wins Oscar for 'House of Gucci' Performance—Based on Trailer Alone

House of Gucci is one of the most anticipated films of the year, thanks to its incredible cast and shocking true story. Not to mention director Ridley Scott, whose credits include Blade Runner, Thelma & Louise and Gladiator, as well as the new epic The Last Duel.

The movie is a true-crime thriller based on the 2001 book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour and Greed by Sara Gay Forden. The star-studded cast is led by Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Jared Leto, Salma Hayek, Jeremy Irons and Al Pacino, playing members of the Gucci family and their associates.

The second official trailer, which has just been released, focuses on Lady Gaga's portrayal of Italian socialite Patrizia Reggiani and many of her fans are already clamoring for her to win best actress at the 2022 Oscars.

House of Gucci shows the aftermath of the 1995 murder of Maurizio Gucci—the head of the fashion house, played by Driver—by his ex-wife Reggiani.

In the trailer, which Gaga has posted across her social media accounts, the singing-songwriting-acting sensation appears to master the Italian accent. It should not be too much of a stretch—the 35-year-old was born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta and both her parents have Italian ancestry.

The trailer shows Reggiani plotting the downfall of the Gucci family, declaring: "I subscribe to unconventional punishments."

The real Reggiani was convicted of hiring a hitman to kill her ex-husband. In 1998, she was sentenced to 29 years in prison and went on to serve 18 years.

Sharing the trailer with her 83.8 million followers on Twitter, Gaga wrote: "A new trailer, sweeties [kiss emoji] #HouseOfGucci – only in theaters This Thanksgiving."

Fans replied to the post, raving about her performance and saying it deserves an Academy Award.

One fan replied: "OH MY GOD THE OSCAR IS FOR YOU" whilst another wrote: "Get some space on your mantle ready mama!"

Gaga missed out on the best actress Oscar for her role as Ally in A Star is Born, but she did win an Academy Award in 2019—best song for the movie's Shallow.

House of Gucci premieres on Wednesday, November 24, in U.S. theaters and on Friday, November 26, in U.K. theaters. It will also be available to stream via Paramount + at a later date.
