How Adele Set Up a Marriage Proposal at Her 'One Night Only' Concert

Adele's songs may be full of heartbreak, but romance is clearly something of great importance to the singer. At her recent 'One Night Only' televised gig, she helped make one person's experience at her concert more special than ever - and it wasn't the first time she's been involved in a surprise marriage proposal.

Ashley, a vegan chef, had been waiting for her partner, Quentin, to propose for seven years, but probably never expected such a spectacle.

Before the proposal took place, Adele warned her crowd of what was coming, telling them to keep quiet for the magical moment.

She told her audience that Ashley was celebrating her first big gig as a caterer, but had no idea Adele was there.

The singer said: "If you make a noise, I'm going to kill you."

Ashley was then led in front of the stage completely blindfolded before Quentin took off her mask and got down on one knee.

The chef was completely shocked and in awe of this moment, crying as Quentin tried to tell her how much she meant to him.

But their interactions also gained some laughter from the crowd. When Quentin told his partner how patient she had been, she tearfully replied: "I've been your girlfriend for so long!"

As Quentin tried to get the words out, Ashley fell to her knees and the pair embraced on the floor of the concert hall as she said: "Yes."

However, her surprise wasn't over, as Adele then hit the stage, which gained huge applause from the audience.

At first, the pair were just happy embracing, believing their love and engagement was the sole reason for the crowd's reaction. But quickly they realized who was also getting some applause.

As they looked at Adele, the singer simply said: "Hello, Ashley, Quentin. Are you alright?"

Ashley's jaw hit the floor as she stared up at the singer, who then proceeded to serenade them and the rest of the crowd for the rest of the concert.

Adele isn't shy of being involved in proposals and engagements.

Before her "One Night Only" gig, Adele had helped many fans get engaged at her concerts during her last world tour back in 2016 and 2017.

In Belfast in 2016, due to the Irish tradition of getting engaged on a Leap Year, she asked the crowd if anyone wanted to propose, aiding a couple on stage.

This continued at other concerts all over Europe, and then on her tour in Melbourne a couple proposed on stage and Adele smiled and laughed in the corner.

She also famously aided her close friend, British comedian Alan Carr, to marry his long-time partner Paul Drayton.

The singer, who got ordained especially to take the ceremony, set up a wedding in the back garden of her L.A. home, and paid for the entire affair.

Speaking on British morning show This Morning in 2018, Carr said: "She's known me and Paul for ages, and she said: 'I want to do your special day. Let me do everything.'

"So she did everything, and she got ordained, and she married us. She is the kindest, most sweetest, loveliest person ever."
