Indiana’s long-awaited breakthrough is complete. The Hoosiers captured the national championship with a 27–21 victory over Miami, finishing a perfect season and delivering one of the most improbable titles in modern college football. In a game defined by poise and efficiency, Indiana struck first and held on behind Fernando Mendoza's play. The Hoosiers built a 10–0 halftime lead by controlling time of possession, leaning on a balanced offense and a defense that consistently forced Miami into long third downs. When the final whistle sounded, Indiana players spilled onto the field knowing they had secured the program’s first national title and completed an undefeated run that will be remembered for generations.

Mendoza’s command was the difference. The Heisman winner threw for 168 yards and converted on key plays throughout the night. He also ran for a score to give Indiana a 24-14 lead late in the ballgame. The Hoosier defense delivered the defining moment as well, stopping Carson Beck and the Hurricanes on the final drive of the game. Miami fought back with explosive plays, but Indiana never blinked. The win cemented this team’s place in college football history, not just as a Cinderella, but as one of the greatest teams of all-time.
