The Tigers enter this matchup riding a 1-0 start after a 95-90 overtime win and come off a 32-6 campaign last season in which they allowed just 69.4 points per game and opponents shot 40.8 % from the field. Offensively, Auburn ranked among the national leaders, averaging roughly 83.0 points per contest. The Warriors, meanwhile, finished last year at 18-15, averaging only 65.6 points per game (among the lowest nationally), yet they were strong defensively, conceding just 64.2 points per game. With Auburn’s offensive firepower and home-court advantage, they’ll look to impose their tempo early.
For Merrimack to make this interesting, they’ll need to flip the script, establish a stronger offensive flow, and stay disciplined defensively. Their biggest challenge: rebounding and field-goal efficiency. Auburn averaged 34.4 boards per game and significantly out-rebounded the Warriors (who ranked 360th nationally in rebounding) last season. If Auburn can dominate the glass and force Merrimack into contested shots, the Tigers should assert control. Expect Auburn to win by a healthy margin unless Merrimack gets hot early and keeps the pace low.
This is a great college basketball matchup that you will not want to miss; make sure to tune in and catch all the action.
