Canada finished first in Group A with a 3-0 record in the preliminary round, outscoring opponents 20–3 with victories over Czechia (5–0), Switzerland (5–1), and France (10–2). Canada earned the top overall seed entering the quarterfinals and displayed dominant scoring depth and goaltending throughout group play, led in production by Connor McDavid, who led the tournament with nine points (two goals, seven assists). Canada’s offense was balanced, with contributions from Macklin Celebrini, Sidney Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon, and others as they controlled play across all three games.

Czechia finished third in Group A with a 1-1-1 record, scoring seven goals in three games; they lost 5–0 to Canada, beat France 6–3, and lost to Switzerland 4–3 in overtime, earning four points. Czechia advanced through a qualification playoff, defeating Denmark 3–2 to reach the quarterfinal stage. Forward Martin Nečas has been central to Czech production (seven points through four games), and Czech goaltending was tested in close games, with Lukas Dostál recording key stops in the qualification win. Czechia will meet Canada again in the quarterfinals after splitting wins and losses in their tournament run, aiming to build on their group-stage result.
