Chinese Taipei and Australia open the World Baseball Classic with the tournament’s first game, setting the tone for Pool C play at the Tokyo Dome. Chinese Taipei will look to capitalize on home support and carry momentum from its strong showing in the previous WBC, where it advanced out of pool play. With a roster built around top Chinese Professional Baseball League talent, the expectation is that they will once again be one of the teams to beat.

Australia, meanwhile, enters as a proven tournament competitor after reaching the quarterfinals in 2023, their best finish at the WBC. Known for its aggressive offensive approach and fundamental defense, the Aussies will aim to apply pressure early and test Chinese Taipei’s pitching depth. With both teams understanding how critical the opening game can be in a five-team round-robin format, expect postseason-style intensity from the very first pitch of the 2026 tournament.

This is a great World Baseball Classic matchup that you will not want to miss; make sure to tune in and catch all the action.
