What Will Happen in Ray Donovan: The Movie?

With the Ray Donovan: The Movie finally here, audiences will be able to say goodbye to their favorite anti-hero, Raymond "Ray" Donovan (Liev Schreiber).

Ray Donovan: The Movie will pick up from the dramatic cliffhanger of Season 7, which saw Ray Donovan opt to "fix" himself in a bid to never turn out like his father.

For seven seasons, audiences followed Ray Donovan's thrilling job as a top fixer for LA's most powerful figures including politicians, actors, and members of the mafia. However, Ray also had problems and some deep traumas of his own, which have ultimately come back to bite him.

Showtime announced in February 2020 Season 7 would be the show's last outing but one year later, much to the delight of fans, announced there would be a feature film to conclude the story of Ray Donovan.

The movie will see Ray Donovan search for his father Mickey (Jon Voight), who has once again gone on the run. Ray must find him before he brings more destruction to his family.

Fans will also get a closer look at the intricacies of the Donovan family in both past and present-day timelines as well as the origins of Ray and Mickey's feud as the Donovan's try to put their dark and at times, violent upbringing behind them.

The Showtime synopsis for the movie teases: "A showdown decades in the making brings the Donovan family legacy full circle. As the events that made Ray who he is today finally come to light, the Donovan's find themselves drawn back to Boston to face the past. Each of them struggles to overcome their violent upbringing, but destiny dies hard, and only their fierce love for each other keeps them in the fight. Whether they stand together or they go down swinging, one thing is certain—Ray doesn't do loose ends."

Ray Donovan: The Movie is directed by David Hollander, who was one of the executive producers on the show and also serves as a co-writer, alongside star Liev Schreiber.

Schreiber himself also serves as an executive producer.
