'Hunter Biden Has Nothing to Do With This': Fox News Guest Slams 'Constant' Coverage of President's Son

Fox News contributor Jessica Tarlov on Sunday criticized conservatives for their "constant" focus on President Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden.

Earlier Sunday, Tarlov joined host Howard Kurtz and fellow contributor Alexandra Wilkes on Fox News' MediaBuzz to scrutinize the media's coverage of the president's minor gun control actions and the investigation into Florida Representative Matt Gaetz.

"I want to push back on Alex a little bit," Tarlov said. "Hunter Biden has nothing to do with any of this and the idea that he comes up constantly is just, I don't understand, the answer about Joe Biden is not, 'Well Hunter Biden did crack,' or 'Well Hunter disposed of a gun illegally.'

"Look at the fact that he did put a ban on pistol modification that would have helped what happened in Boulder. That would have stopped the shooting."

In early November, an analysis by Media Matters, a left-leaning nonprofit media watchdog, found that Fox News had spent 36 hours and 34 minutes over two weeks during 596 segments covering the New York Post's report about Hunter Biden's laptop.

When Twitter attempted to shut down the circulation of the Post's unverified story about the president's son, some conservatives accused big tech companies of siding with Democrats to suppress unfavorable coverage related to Joe Biden.

On the other hand, Democrats criticized conservative media for focusing on a story that didn't provide any definitive evidence that implicates the then-Democratic presidential candidate.

Later in the Fox News segment, Tarlov called the sex trafficking probe involving Gaetz "incredibly serious."

"We all have friends in life that maybe go down the wrong path, they marry someone that we don't like. But not every one of them end up being sex traffickers," she said. "We didn't venmo all of them $900 to be distributed potentially by underage girls. The second element of this is that Matt Gaetz isn't particularly liked. He's crude in a lot of ways."

On Friday, the House Ethics Committee announced a probe into Gaetz, who's currently facing a federal sex-trafficking investigation. Gaetz has repeatedly and vehemently denied wrongdoing since the federal investigation was made public last week.

Wilkes called the coverage of the probe into Gaetz "absolutely legitimate," but perhaps overplayed.

Tarlov added: "Gaetz has done his best to not make many friends. President Trump is still his friend, but even that statement he issued, the two sentences, it's not that great."
