Husky's 'Priceless' Reaction to Cat Trying to Catch Bird on TV Goes Viral

A husky has gone viral after showing off some serious "side eye" when their owner's kitten tried to catch a nearby bird.

The problem being that bird was in fact on the television rather than in the room, with the young cat pouncing at the screen with predictably disastrous results.

At the time of the recording, the husky was in the midst of a well-earned dog nap.

However, as the footage shows, the sound of his cat companion crashing into the wall-mounted TV before falling to the floor was more than enough to wake him from his slumber.

After looking down to check on the status of his furry friend, the dog turned to exchange a glance with the person filming the clip that said so much without saying anything at all.

The footage first came to light after being shared to Twitter by Dutch animal lover Buitengebieden. At the time of writing, the video has been viewed over 575,000 times.

It actually originates from the Instagram account Husky__Blue, which chronicles the life and adventures of a 3-year-old husky by the name of Blue who lives in San Diego with his owners.

According to Blue's Insta bio, he was rescued from an animal shelter back in October 2018.

Fans flocking to the viral tweet were quick to pick up on Blue's hilarious reaction to the kitten's crash landing.

MissBilious praised Blue's "perfect deadpan" expression calling it "a face that says 'I'm a bit worried about that Cat.'" Sassy19783, meanwhile, called it a "what did you just do" look, adding it was "way too cute."

Elsewhere, 2020eScribbles imagined Blue saying something along the lines of "Aren't you going to do something about this hooman?" while realranjsingh thought the husky was probably thinking: "We spoke about this and it keeps happening. I'm not angry, just disappointed"

Redwardprice719 was similarly in awe of the husky's response, writing: "Lord help me, because I just read a dog's mind. And I agree with the dog." Nhmtnbkr1 also spoke for many with their response, which simply read: "The Husky's expression is priceless."

Newsweek has contacted Husky__Blue's owners for comment.

Though Blue appears happy to tolerate the antics of his feline friend, huskies and cats have a famously fractious relationship.

According to the Smart Canine, this is all down to breeding, instincts and evolution. Huskies were sled dogs "bred to withstand the fiercely harsh conditions of cold northern regions" where food was "scarce."

"This scarcity of food caused Huskies to evolve to attack any small animal that could be food for the canines," they explained. "The Husky's prey drive is instincts, so it's impossible to 'unlearn' their desire to chase down cats."

This isn't the first time a dog's reaction to the chaos surrounding them has won fans on social media.

A golden retriever hit the big time on Twitter earlier this year after their owner captured their dog's hilarious reaction to being caught stealing food.

Elsewhere, another canine captured hearts on social media with his affectionate reaction to a cat who interrupted the dog's nap to slide in for a cuddle.
