'I am Livid': Fans React to Adam Driver's 2022 Academy Award Snub

Fans took to Twitter to express their thoughts on Adam Driver's Academy Award snub despite being in three big movies in 2021.

On the morning of February 8th, the Academy Award nominations were announced to the public via social media. Top contenders this year were Netflix's The Power of the Dog receiving 12 nominations and Dune with 10 nominations. Belfast and West Side Story tied with 7 nominations. Kristen Stewart receives her first ever nomination for her role as Princess Diana in Spencer and Kirsten Dunst for The Power of the Dog. Beyoncé and Billie Eilish also snagged the first Oscar nomination in the "Best Original Song" category. However, it's the lack of nominations for Driver that left many unsettled.

The 38-year-old actor starred in three different projects in 2021:The Last Duel, House of Gucci, and the Amazon Musical Film, Annette.

House of Gucci received one nomination this year for "Best Makeup and Hairstyling." It was also surprising that Driver's co-star, Lady Gaga, wasn't apart of the "Best Actress" category list. The film follows the events prior to the killing of Maurizio Gucci and the arrest of Patrizia Reggiani. The film also stars Al Pacino, Salma Hayek, and Jeremy Irons.

Driver has been nominated for 2 Academy Awards so far in his career, including "Best Actor" for Marriage Story in 2020, but lost to Joaquin Phoenix, and "Best Supporting Actor" for BlaKkKlansman, but lost to Mahershala Ali.

In 2022, Driver is set to star in two films — Noah Baumbach's new movie White Noise and sci-fi thriller 65. Fans took to Twitter to discuss their disappointment.
