One of Japan's top research universities, Kyushu University is pushing the boundaries of knowledge and educating a new generation of leaders in a diverse range of fields from the humanities, business, and law to science, technology, and medicine. The new main campus, the largest in Japan, merges cutting-edge research and education facilities with nature on the outskirts of Fukuoka, Japan's fastest growing startup hub. Study opportunities abound for its nearly 19,000 students, of which more than 2,300 come from around 100 countries abroad, at the university's 12 undergraduate and 18 graduate schools, hospital, and over 60 affiliated research centers powered by close to 2,400 faculty members. In April 2018, the university opened the School of Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation, which is cultivating global problem solvers capable of seamlessly crossing disciplinary boundaries, and it is continually tackling the issues expected to be faced in the future.
