Leading Art & Design Programs 2021
For those of us who need to flex our creative muscle and are attracted to a career that enables this, an Art & Design degree is the obvious route to take. Once qualified, you can explore careers including the following areas:
In this role you often will be fulfilling specific briefs to communicate, promote or illustrate an idea or concept with a client. Working in this area also necessitates strong communicative and interpretive skills.
A career in photography can lead to specializations in particular areas - automotive, fashion, wedding, or food (to name but a few). Photographers might travel the world extensively, potentially being at the cusp of history defining moments such as documenting revolutions, protests or wars.
It takes determination, self-belief, and persistence, but if you have the talent, people will value your work and you could embark on one of the most satisfying careers imaginable.
As an animator, you might work on children's cartoons, in the visual effects team on a film, or in advertising, video game design and cut scenes, or phone/tablet apps. Animation is an exciting and rapidly evolving field.
You could use your artistic and interpretive skills to give life to children's stories, posters, advertisements, or book / album covers. As well as allowing you to express your own creative style, you can directly influence the success and public perception of the product you work on.
A printmaker might use a number of mediums to produce their work including lithography, etching, woodcuts, block-printing, silk-screening and electronic and digital processes. You will be working to a brief but will have the chance to put your own creative mark on the material.
This is a specialized area that demands focus and vision, as curators are tasked with imparting a sense of cohesion and thematic consistency to exhibitions and collections in museums, art galleries and other spaces designed for public viewing. A good curator has to contextualize and frame the artifacts they are entrusted with in a way that they can best be appreciated and enjoyed by the public.
The Cleveland Institute of Art is one of the nation's leading accredited independent colleges of art and design. Since 1882, the College has nurtured individuals to pursue and attain creative careers that matter personally—and to the world. From the start, students are encouraged to think of their work in a professional context.
