Across the world, women have marked International Women's Day 2018 by taking part in rallies calling for equality, respect and empowerment.
Spain ground to a halt as women staged a countrywide 24-hour strike. Huge protests were held in Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao and other major Spanish cities against the wage gap and gender violence. The walkouts aimed to highlight discrimination, harassment and violence against Spanish women.
