'Furry & the Furious': Internet Amazed by Cat and Dog Riding in Mini Jeep

Two pets from California with a particularly special way of getting around have caught the attention of the internet.

Shaina Culpepper who uses the TikTok handle coolcatlou has been sharing the antics of her cat Louie and canine pal Nachos much to the delight of over 75,000 followers on TikTok.

One video shared on Wednesday that now has over 5 million views on the video-sharing app shows the animal friends sitting in a miniature jeep, driving through a crowd of delighted onlookers.

With the small pup dressed in a banana suit and cat in a stylish shirt, the hilarious video has gained over 1 million likes and thousands of delighted comments.

One TikToker wrote: "Just what I needed to start the day!" Another said: "This is so cute."

In the video, it looks like Nachos the dog is driving the car, prompting many amused comments online: "Probably a better driver than I am," wrote one user. Another said: "What's his insurance monthly?"

Aside from being super cute and uplifting, research shows that videos like those from Culpepper can actually benefit our health. A 2020 study by the University of Leeds in the U.K. found that watching videos and looking at images of cute animals can help reduce stress levels by up to 50 percent.

In the study, participants were asked to watch a 30-minute montage of images and videos of cute animals and have their heart rate and blood pressure measured before and after watching the content. The findings found a significant drop in anxiety levels, proving that watching cute animals can be a powerful stress reliever and mood enhancer.

The video even caught the eye of Jeep, who commented from their official TikTok account: "Gotta teach him to Jeep wave next." Another user wrote: "Why can't I see this type of stuff in person!" One commenter joked: "Furry & the furious."

Other TikTokers were baffled by the fact it looked like Nachos the dog was controlling the car all by himself. One user said: "That'd better be remote-controlled because 'aint no way dude." Another said: "Is he actually steering? Lol omg so cute."

Popular online account weratedogs that started as a Twitter account that rates people's dogs also commented on the video and said: "Ok but the best part is when you said to back up and Nachos casually put the vehicle in reverse."

One commenter was inspired by the hilarious video and said: "I'm teaching all of my four cats this, I've decided."

Newsweek reached out to Shaina Culpepper for comment.
