Internet in Stitches Over Cat 'Seeing Stars' After Sedation

A cat owner's hilarious video of the aftermath of their visit to the vet has gone viral online, gaining more than 3.9 million views.

Jaz – who uses the handle jazandrob on TikTok – shared the video of her cat Bandit on March 27, with the caption: "I'm going to hell for laughing."

In the video, Jaz shows a slightly knocked-out Bandit. She says: "Bandit had to go to the vet today, and they said they have to over-sedate her 'cause she's a b****."

A spaced-out Bandit sits staring into the air with her mouth open as her owner asks: "Are you a b****? This is what happens to b******? Yeah. But you're good, you're a good kitty."

With over 720,000 likes and thousands of comments, TikTok viewers were left in stitches at her reaction.

"I'll have what she's having," joked one user. While another said: "She can taste colors now."

Dave Leicester, head of the Video Vets Now service at Vets Now, the U.K.'s leading provider of pet emergency care, which has clinics and hospitals across the country as well as an online consultation service, told Newsweek: "There are medications that your vet can give your pet to help with anxiety, although these are generally only prescribed as a last resort. Speak to your vet in advance and they will be able to discuss the best options for your pet.

"Sedatives are usually only employed for very specific situations, such as if a painful or stressful procedure needs to be performed, or for restraint purposes to take radiographs, for example. A sedative makes a pet drowsy and will affect many of the results of tests and examinations, so are generally avoided."

Another TikTok user joked, "Bandit, it's okay, they have to oversedate me for the same reason," while another commenter wrote: "I'm crying from laughter this is too much she's gone gone."

But other viewers were concerned about the cat. One user wrote: "Yeah they shouldn't be sending her home still that sedated," and another wrote: "Shouldn't they reverse the sedation before she goes home?"

Leicester explained: "The cat in the video is very heavily sedated and that would not normally be desirable for anything other than more complex medical procedures. It would generally be recommended that a heavily sedated patient remains under the care of the veterinary team, closely monitored in a clinical environment until fully recovered from the sedation.

"A great way to avoid the stress of the vet is to try a video vet service so your pet can be checked over from the comfort of your own home."

But user jazandrob reassured TikTok users with an update video where she said she was just fine, but also revealed that she could "now talk," in a video where the cat replied to her owner saying "give me a kiss?" with a long meow that sounds a lot like the cat is saying "no."

One commenter on the video update joked: "Not after what you put me through. I need some time."

Newsweek reached out to jazandrob for comment.
