Lauren Cho Update as Investigators Join Search to Find Missing Woman

More investigators have joined the effort to track down Lauren Cho, a 30-year-old woman who went missing in California on June 28.

Cho, a music teacher from New Jersey, was last seen leaving her residence in the California desert of Yucca Valley at around 3 p.m. that day, and hasn't been heard from since.

Cho had made the move to California from New Jersey just eight months before.

A statement issued on Wednesday by Morongo Basin Sheriff's Station on Facebook said investigators with San Bernardino County Sheriff's Specialized Investigations Division are assisting the Morongo Basin Station in the effort to locate Cho.

"Investigators are looking into all leads and working with family and friends of Ms. Cho. Future search operations will occur as further leads develop," the statement read.

Cho is described by police as an "Asian female", 5-foot-3-inches with black hair and brown eyes.

Investigators say she was last seen wearing a yellow t-shirt and jean shorts, walking in on the 8600 block of Benmar Trail, Yucca Valley.

Anyone with information regarding the search for Cho is urged to contact Detective Edward Hernandez or Sergeant Justin Giles, Specialized Investigations Division, at (909) 387-3589.

People with knowledge of what happen who wish to remain anonymous can do so by contacting the We-Tip hotline at 800-78-CRIME (27463) or www.wetip.com.

Cho's friend Cody Orell was the last person known to have seen her, the Hi-Desert Star reported.

The two, who met in New Jersey and used to date, were staying at a friend's house. On the afternoon of June 28, Orell went onto a tour bus that they'd crossed the U.S. in and apparently Cho walked away upset.

"There was a 10-minute window there and she evaporated ... I searched all in the hills and no tracks, anywhere," Orell told the Star.

A sheriff's report of Orell's call for help at around 5.13 p.m. that day said Cho had walked into the hills between Yucca Valley and Morongo Valley. Orell said he tried to find her and called their friends to help. After not being able to find her, they called the police, who also couldn't find her after trawling the area.

Orell told the Star that he thought that Cho had got into a vehicle to meet someone, but she wouldn't say who.

The update on the Cho case comes off the back of received widespread media coverage of the case of 22-year-old Gabby Petito, whose body was found on September 19 after her fiancé Brian Laundrie, 23, returned home from a cross-country roadtrip without her.

Investigators have ruled her death as a homicide.
