Iron Man's 5 Funniest MCU Moments Ahead of 'Avengers: Endgame'

"Truth is ... I am Iron Man."

That iconic line from Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) in 2008's Iron Man kicked off the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it. Now, 21 films later, we are getting ready to watch the climactic finale between our heroes and the Mad Titan, Thanos in Avengers: Endgame. And boy, are we ready for it!

Tony Stark is expected to take a central role in all the Endgame madness. Over the course of numerous films, he's evolved from a man who creates weapons of mass destruction to one of those fighting hardest to protect humanity. But his good-guy status hasn't always been so cut and dry. After all, he helped create both Ultron and Vision.

We all know the importance of the Iron Man movies within the Marvel canon, and to celebrate how he's shaped the MCU, here are five of Iron Man's funniest moments. (Trust us, you're going to laugh.)

1. Iron Man 3 - "Because we're connected."

In the last movie of the Iron Man trilogy, Tony comes up against a terrorist known as the Mandarin, who is behind a string of bombings. A restless Tony, suffering from PTSD after the Battle of New York, has started building numerous Iron Man suits. One of his new experimental models leads him to rural Tennessee, where meets 10-year-old Harley. He develops a rapport with the boy, and they track the Mandarin down together.

In this scene, Tony leaves Harley by the roadside while he goes off to pursue the world's latest threat. Harley tells Tony, "Admit it, you need me. We're connected." Their snarky, yet sweet banter is just classic.

2. The Avengers - "Please tell me nobody kissed me."

In Loki's attempt to subjugate Earth, he uses the Tesseract along with a device made by physicist Dr. Erik Selvig to open a wormhole in New York City, inviting an alien race to invade. Eventually, Black Widow finds a way to shut the wormhole.

Meanwhile, Nick Fury's superiors from the World Security Council have put in the order to launch a missile where the action is taking place. Iron Man learns about this and takes it upon himself to carry the missile through the wormhole right before Black Widow closes it. But his suit runs out of power and he slumps back through the wormhole, just as the Black Widow closes it. Even so, Tony is not slowing down, so the Hulk storms in to save him. With his loud roar, Hulk awakens the unconscious Tony, who quips "please tell me nobody kissed me."

3. Avengers: Infinity War - "You're embarrassing me in front of the wizards."

Dr. Strange, Bruce Banner, Tony Stark and Wong encounter Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian, two of Thanos' lieutenants, in New York. Thanos' crew have come to get the Time Stone from Strange. When they touch down, Tony addresses them saying, "I'm sorry, Earth is closed today." Then he asks Banner to get involved in the oncoming action, but Banner can't seem to bring Hulk out.

Tony sees he's having trouble and tells Banner, "Dude, you're embarrassing me in front of the wizards." That's something only Tony can get away with.

4. Iron Man 2 - "I was going to make you an omelette."

The banter between Pepper Potts and Tony Stark has always been a pleasure to watch. But the moment where Pepper (accidentally) finds out that Tony is "dying" due to the palladium arc reactor in his chest is particularly memorable. When Pepper does find out Tony's little secret after the Stark Expo goes all haywire, the two have a lovers' spat.

5. Age of Ultron - Ignoring 'Language'?

The Avengers take on hordes of Hydra soldiers commanded by Baron von Strucker. Iron Man flies right into an invisible shield around Strucker's fortress and blurts out a curse word. Captain America, being his wholesome self, says "Language!" to reprimand him. A little later Iron Man says, "Are we just going to ignore the fact that Cap just said, 'Language?'"

Later on in the movie, the Cap's 'Language!' command becomes the punchline of numerous jokes made by the Avengers, including Maria Hill.

Well, there you have it. Those are five of Tony Stark's funniest scenes from across the MCU. While there are plenty more funny scenes from Iron Man across all the movies, but we just couldn't fit them all in here. What are your favorites? Let us know in the comments!
