Everything Jada Pinkett and Will Smith Have Said About an Open Relationship

Jada Pinkett Smith has denied rumors that she had a romantic fling with R&B singer August Alsina.

In a statement to Page Six, a representative for Smith denied the rumor, saying it was "absolutely not true." Her husband, Oscar-nominated actor Will Smith, has not spoken on the issue publicly.

Rumors surrounding the couple having an open marriage have circulated for years. In 2005, Will Smith told The Daily Mail that the two speak openly about being sexually attracted to other people and made claims that stoked the speculation."If it came down to it, then one can say to the other, 'Look, I need to have sex with somebody," he said. "I'm not going to if you don't approve of it - but please approve of it'."

Jada Pinkett Smith also denied the open marriage rumors after a comment she made on a HuffPost Facebook live stream. "Here is how I will change my statement...Will and I BOTH can do WHATEVER we want, because we TRUST each other to do so. This does NOT mean we have an open relationship...this means we have a GROWN one," she wrote in a Facebook post.

Smith also mentioned the open relationship, specifically that the couple were swingers, when asked about the craziest rumor about her family on Watch What Happens Live, saying the rumor was "constant." She also joked that she "wish[ed]" the pair were.

In an hour long interview posted to his YouTube channel, Alsina spoke about speculation surrounding his relationship with Smith following the release of his single "Nunya." In the clip, interviewer Angela Yee asks for Alsina to clarify the confusing situation. "I don't know if you were pursuing her or you guys had just a close family type of relationship," she said.

The 27-year-old singer claimed to have had a fling with Smith, the actress who has been married to Will Smith since 1997. Alsina said that he sat down with The Pursuit of Happiness actor and received his approval to pursue a relationship with his wife. "I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation due to the transformation from their marriage to life partnership that they have spoken on several times, and it not involving romanticism, and he gave me his blessing," Alsina said.

Alsina continued about his commitment to his supposed relationship with Smith. "I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life," he said. "I truly and really really deeply loved and have a ton of love for her. I devoted myself to it."

The video for "Nunya," the song that started the rumor, shows a text exchange with a woman named Koren, which is Smith's middle name. He also used a GIF of Smith in the text conversation when the song's lyrics referred to the woman as an actress.
