January 6 Committee Live Updates: Donald Trump Loses Bid to Withhold White House Records

Live Updates

A top federal judge has rejected Donald Trump's request to withhold key documents - including call records - from the House committee investigating the January 6 riot.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan ruled late last night that Congress had a public interest case to obtain records that could reveal crucial information about the violent insurrection mounted by the former president's supporters on the Capitol.

The National Archives now plans to turn over Trump's records to the committee - which has subpoenaed some of his former staff - by Friday. His lawyers have been swift to respond with a promise to appeal the ruling - a case that will likely head to the Supreme Court.
