The Philadelphia Eagles fell to the San Francisco 49ers 23-19 on Sunday in the first round of the NFL playoffs, effectively ending their bid for a second consecutive Lombardi Trophy.

While the Eagles are still less than a year removed from being crowned Super Bowl champions, the city of Philadelphia and its fans live in the present, and calls are already mounting for major changes — particularly within the coaching staff.

One name that has continuously emerged as a potential casualty is offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo. However, NFL and Eagles legend Jason Kelce made it clear who is truly to blame for Sunday’s loss — and it’s not the coaching staff.

"And I know that everybody is out on Kevin Patullo. I happen to know the guy, I love Kevin Patullo. I know he's a great coach," Kelce said Monday night. "I know it wasn't the best offensive performance this year. They have the No. 1 highest-paid offense in the league. They were mediocre across the board. They had their chances to win that game yesterday, and the players didn't make the plays."

The Eagles have some pending free agents on the offensive side of the ball, such as tight end Dallas Goedert, who hauled in two touchdowns against the 49ers. However, they still have Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown, and DeVonta Smith all under contract through 2026.

Interestingly, Brown — who seems the most likely candidate to leave the team amid this season’s drama — is owed no guaranteed money from the franchise after 2026. This means the Eagles could likely negotiate a trade relatively easily, which, unless something drastically changes, now seems almost inevitable given the remaining years on his deal in Philadelphia.
