Jason Momoa Likes Amber Heard and Johnny Depp's Statements After Trial

After the jury's verdict on the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard defamation trial was pronounced on Wednesday in favor of the Pirates of the Caribbean star, actor Jason Momoa appears to have shown support for both actors as he liked both Heard and Depp's statements on Instagram.

Social media users who have sided with Depp, suddenly declared they were going to unfollow Momoa or block him after seeing he had liked Heard's Instagram post.

"As a die hard Momoa fan who has been a fan for over a decade, I'm never going to look at him the same. I'm heartbroken that he didn't stand up for what's right," one user wrote on Twitter, commenting on the actor's like to Heard's post.

"He liked Johnny's as well, but you can't agree with both statements, that makes no sense at all!," wrote another.

Momoa starred in 2018 DC film Aquaman next to Heard, but her role in the sequel to the film, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, has recently been cut.

While Heard said she was cut out of the production because of the infamous trial with her ex-husband, DC Films CEO Walter Hamada reportedly said the decision was taken because of the "lack of chemistry" between co-stars Heard and Momoa. A 2020 online petition to remove Heard from the film surpassed four million signatures.

The move is scheduled for release on March 17, 2023.

Momoa has not publicly taken side in the trial that pitted the two actors against each other. Many more celebrities, on the other hand, have made their support for one or the other clear.

After the verdict was pronounced on Wednesday, actor Amy Schumer published a Gloria Steinem quote in support of Heard. Naomi Campbell responded to Depp's statement on Instagram with a heart emojis, as did singer Ryan Adams, who has been accused of sexual misconduct by several women, including Phoebe Bridgers and Mandy Moore.

Other celebrities including LaKeith Stanfield, Zoe Saldana, Emma Roberts, Gemma Chan, Bella Hadid, Taika Waititi, Jennifer Aniston, Eva Longoria, Orlando Bloom, Henry Golding, Joey King and Riley Keoug "liked" Depp's statement.

Social media users sided with either one of the two actors involved in the trial has said to be disappointed in celebrities expressing their support for one or the other litigant.
