The wife of a top aide to President Donald Trump has filed for divorce after 18 years of marriage, according to reports.

Jennifer Scavino, who is married to White House social media director Dan Scavino, filed for divorce on January 18 in documents that are sealed by the state of New York, the Huffington Post reported.

With the state keeping divorce documents under seal, little is known about the reasons behind the case, but Dan Scavino is listed as the defendant, while his wife is the plaintiff.

It is the second divorce announced in the space of just one week in Trump's inner circle, after it emerged Thursday that Vanessa Trump, the wife of the president's eldest son Donald Trump Jr., had filed for divorce.

Jennifer Scavino, like her husband, has largely stayed out of the public eye since Dan took a role in Trump's White House—although her husband has made a number of references to his wife online.

After being accused of anti-Semitism during the presidential election campaign for tweeting a "corrupt Hillary Clinton" image that appeared to feature the Star of David, Dan responded in a tweet that his wife was Jewish and denied he was anti-Semitic.

"For the MSM to suggest that I am anti-Semite is AWFUL. I proudly celebrate holidays w/ my wife's amazing Jewish family for the past 16 years," he wrote.

And on another occasion, Dan shared an image of Jennifer hooked up to a drip and praised her ongoing fight against Lyme disease.

"My amazing wife, Jennifer has Chronic Inflammatory Polyneuropathy Disease from a tick, resulting in Lyme disease," Dan wrote in a 2015 Twitter post.

"We are both 39 years old. 10 years of this awful neurological disease, she is my hero. Not once feeling sorry for herself or really even talking about it outside of our home. While I had to leave my career, I have and will be with her every step of the way. Today is treatment day. Thoughts & prayers to everyone & anyone with neurological disease," he added.

The couple have two sons, and own a home in Hopewell Junction, New York, USA Today reported. There have been no reports as yet over potential custody arrangements for their children.
