A newly revealed poll shows President Joe Biden is very narrowly ahead of Donald Trump in New Mexico, a state the president won by 11 points in 2020.
The latest survey is likely to unnerve Democrats, who are already growing increasingly concerned about the president's electoral chances following the weak debate performance on June 27.
Before the debate, from June 19 to 24, 1892 Polling questioned 600 likely voters. And the results show Biden was just one point ahead of Trump in a six-way race, including other candidates such as the independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Green Party candidate Jill Stein.

Biden narrowly beats Trump 43 percent to 42 percent in this poll. In a two-way matchup, the pollster found Biden ahead by just two points, 49 percent to Trump's 47 percent.
The internal poll, shared by poll aggregators including FiveThirtyEight, was conducted for the Republican candidate for Senate in New Mexico, Nella Domenici, and the National Republican Senatorial Committee, and has a possible variation of +/- 4 percent.
New Mexico used to be a fairly competitive state but has voted blue since the 2008 presidential election. Biden won the state by nearly 11 points in 2020, receiving 54.28 percent of the vote, while Trump received 43.48 percent.

Previous polling of 555 registered voters in New Mexico by Public Policy Polling between June 13 and 14 put Biden 7 points ahead of Trump.
The same pollster found in August 2023 that Biden was 8 points ahead of Trump, after surveying 767 registered voters.
All this polling shows an overall downward trend in popularity for Biden in New Mexico leading up to the TV debate. Since the president's shaky debate performance, his polling numbers have plummeted generally, and some Democrats have called for him to be replaced on the ticket.
This would be unprecedented in modern times and would also be very unlikely, as it would only be possible if Biden himself chooses to step down.
The president has been clear that he intends to carry on. Seth Schuster, a Biden campaign spokesperson, previously told Newsweek: "Joe Biden is not dropping out."
Biden has admitted that his debate performance was poor, but said at a campaign rally on Friday that he still believed "with all my heart and soul that I can do this job."
"I don't walk as easy as I used to. I don't speak as smoothly as I used to. I don't debate as well as I used to. But I know what I do know: I know how to tell the truth. I know right from wrong. And I know how to do this job. I know how to get things done. And I know, like millions of Americans know, when you get knocked down you get back up," Biden said.
Newsweek reached out to the Biden campaign via email for comment.
