What Time Is The Turkey Pardon? How to Watch Joe Biden's Thanksgiving Presentation Live

President Joe Biden will be pardoning two turkeys at the White House ahead of Thanksgiving, as per tradition.

The turkeys are being especially flown in from a farm in Jasper, Indiana, to receive the presidential pardon, the first during Biden's time in office.

As in previous years, the two turkeys will receive a grand welcome at the White House with a red carpet, and they will stay at the Willard InterContinental Hotel.

Once pardoned, the birds—whose names have not yet been revealed—will be allowed to live out their days rather than end up on the dinner table this Thanksgiving.

Here's everything you need to know about the ceremony, including when it will be and where you can watch it.

What time is the Turkey pardon?

President Biden will be pardoning the two turkeys on Friday, November 19 in a Rose Garden ceremony at the White House.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki announced the news on Friday, November 12, and said in a press conference: "We're all very excited to meet the soon-to-be famous turkey and its alternate."

It is currently unclear what time the pardon will be taking place, but their destination after the ceremony has been confirmed.

In 2020, the ceremony took place at 1pm EST and it is likely this year's event will be held at around the same time.

The two turkey's will be given a new home at Purdue University's Department of Animal Sciences in the College of Agriculture, where they will be looked after by 2021 National Turkey Federation chairman Phil Seger.

In a press release, shared by WattPoultry, Dr. Greg Fraley of Purdue University spoke about being given the opportunity to look after the two turkeys.

He said: "The turkeys will provide a great resource for students to learn more about the poultry industry and about policies that impact poultry production."

After they are pardoned, the two turkeys will be brought to Purdue University where they will be given an official welcome on Monday, November 29.

How can you watch President Joe Biden's Thanksgiving Presentation live?

As in previous years, the White House will be live-streaming the Thanksgiving Presentation live on Friday, November 19.

The video was put on the White House's YouTube page in previous years, and it was also then shared on social media.

Following the live presentation, the clip of President Biden pardoning the turkey will likely be shown on news channels in the U.S. and across the globe.
