'Jump Force' Roster Adds Kenshin, Makoto, Cell and Piccolo

Four new characters are joining the Jump Force roster when the fighting game featuring Shonen Jump characters hits stores in 2019.

Bandai Namco revealed Kenshin Himura and Shishio Makoto, swordsmen from the excellent Rurouni Kenshin manga and anime will join the fight to save the world. The January issue of V-Jump magazine revealed the other two fighters.

The magazine's pages show in-game models of Cell and Piccolo from the Dragon Ball series alongside the rest of the announced Jump Force roster. Interesting enough, Light and Ryuk from Death Note also appear.

When Bandai Namco announced Jump Force at this year's E3, Light and Ryuk were teased at the end of the trailer, but producer Koji Nakajima confirmed at the time they wouldn't be playable.

"Ryuk from Death Note isn't a playable character," Nakajima confirmed in an interview with Bahamut via Siliconera, "because if he writes names into the Death Note, people die, right? He'd be too strong."

Nakajima did add that they would be a part of the story. Whether he's being tongue-and-cheek about Light and Ryuk in Jump Force is unclear, but we'll find out as the game gets closer to release.

The additions of Kenshin, Makoto, Cell and Piccolo brings the Jump Force roster to almost 30 . Currently, the roster includes Ryo, Kenshiro, Yugi Muto, Goku, Vegeta, Frieza, Luffy, Naruto, Ichigo, Rukia, Aizen, Sasuke, Sanji, Sabo, Blackbeard, Zolo, Yusuke and Toguro from YuYu Hakusho, Killua, Gon, Kurapika and Hisoka from Hunter x Hunter, Pegasus Seiya and Dragon Shiryu from Saint Seiya.

Jump Force will release Feb. 16.
