The Full 'Jurassic World 3' Title Is One of These 27 Candidates (But Probably Not 'Rex in the City')

As with every new entry in the Star Wars series, the unveiling of the full title for each sequel in the Jurassic World series has become a marketing event in itself. But while Jurassic World 3 is so far officially untitled, director Colin Trevorrow has validated a list of potential titles, leaving us with 27 candidates for the full Jurassic World sequel title.

Paleobiology student and Jurassic Park Podcast contributor James Ronan called for potential Jurassic World 3 candidate titles on Twitter (offering three possibilities of his own), but what would have been a fairly typical social media interaction became something more when Trevorrow joined the fray.

Ok #Jurassic Twitter what do you think @JurassicWorld 3 will be called? My Top 3 are Jurassic World: Survival, Jurassic World: Clash of Worlds, Jurassic World: Illusion of Control. Let's hear your suggestions! @colintrevorrow @LeDoctor @emilycarmichael#jurassicworld #JW3 pic.twitter.com/rVIcoGLhdT

On Sunday, Trevorrow confirmed that life had found a way—someone guessed the title correctly. Jurassic Outpost caught on to the unique title confirmation.

"Wow, somebody in this thread actually got it," Trevorrow tweeted. "Respect."

According to Trevorrow, one of the 27 possible candidates proposed in the thread will be the title for the next Jurassic World when the movie hits theaters on June 11, 2021:

  1. The Jurassic World
  2. Jurassic World: The Jurassic Park of Jurassic World
  3. Jurassic World: Survival
  4. Jurassic World: Clash of Worlds
  5. Jurassic World: Illusion of Control
  6. Jurassic World: New Era / A New Era
  7. Jurassic World: Dawn of a New Era
  8. Jurassic World: Rise of New Era
  9. Jurassic World: Rise of the New Kingdom
  10. Jurassic World: Edge of Chaos
  11. Jurassic World: Chaos Effect
  12. Jurassic World: When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth
  13. Jurassic World: Reverie
  14. Jurassic World: War for the Planet
  15. Jurassic World: Ancient Futures
  16. Jurassic World 3: Long Live the Dinosaurs
  17. Jurassic World: Clash of Worlds
  18. Jurassic World 3: Rex in the City
  19. Jurassic World 3: Illusion of Control
  20. Jurassic World: Extinction
  21. Jurassic World: New King
  22. Jurassic World: The Return of the King
  23. Jurassic Park: Dinotopia
  24. Jurassic World 3: You Asked for It Humans
  25. Jurassic World 3: When Worlds Collide
  26. Jurassic World: Coexistence
  27. Jurassic World: This Series Needs to Throw in the Towel

It may be easy to eliminate some of the suspects—like This Series Needs to Throw in the Towel, Rex in the City and You Asked for It Humans—but who knows, maybe they'll get real weird with it and go for Jurassic World: The Jurassic Park of Jurassic World.

There are also a number of less outlandish titles that would be easy to see on movie posters for the next dinosaur blockbuster in the series, like Coexistence, Chaos Effect or even the distinctly Planet of the Apes-y War for the Planet.

We've reached out to Universal Pictures to see whether they could eliminate any of the 27 candidates, but did not get a comment back in time for publication.

Trevorrow, who directed the original Jurassic World and co-wrote Fallen Kingdom, has already provided a look at the future of Jurassic Park with his short film Battle at Big Rock, which premiered on FX in September 2019 and featured an array of dinosaurs invading the U.S. mainland after the events of Fallen Kingdom.

Jurassic World 3 is also expected to be a reunion of sorts, with Laura Dern (Ellie Sattler), Jeff Goldblum (Ian Malcolm) and Sam Neill (Alan Grant) teaming up with Jurassic World series characters played by Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt.

Whatever its final title, Jurassic World 3 is out in theaters on June 11, 2021.
