Christian Benteke's unhappy sojourn on Merseyside may soon be at an end, after the Liverpool striker's agent confirmed that several clubs are interested in buying the Belgian.

Benteke signed for Liverpool for £32.5 million ($42.4 million) in summer 2015, on the back of three fine seasons for Aston Villa.

But he struggled under first Brendan Rodgers and then Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, scoring nine goals in 29 appearances.

Now Benteke's agent Eris Kismet has revealed the 25-year-old could leave as soon as this transfer window.

"We are waiting for any news but at this moment there is nothing concrete," Kismet told The Guardian. "There are several teams interested in signing him so hopefully we can reach a resolution soon."

Klopp has already signed Sadio Mane from Southampton this summer for more than £30 million, although with Daniel Sturridge's fitness a source of uncertainty, it is surprising that he is willing to let a striker go.

Then again, Benteke has never really fitted snugly into the style Klopp demands—high-pressing, high-energy football. Perhaps a quick resolution makes sense for both sides.
