BTS to Perform at the 2020 Grammy Awards

BTS will perform at the 2020 Grammy Awards, taking place this Sunday in Los Angeles, the official website of the awards confirmed.

Following much speculation, BTS fans can now rest assured that the K-pop sensation has been added to the line-up of performers on the 62nd annual Grammy Awards.

The upcoming show will mark the group's first-ever performance at the Grammys. No further details have been revealed regarding their performance.

The band will join a string of other major artists performing at this year's awards including Ariana Grande, Aerosmith, Camila Cabello, Jonas Brothers, Billie Eilish, John Legend and Demi Lovato, among several others.

Debate over whether the band was going to perform or even make an appearance at the event during the biggest night in the music industry had been building in recent days, including earlier this week when Grande posted an image of her picture with the group (minus Yoongi, which also caused a frenzy among fans on social media) at a rehearsal for the Grammys on her official Twitter account with the note: "Look who i bumped into at rehearsal :)."

Speculation grew with the band scheduled to be in L.A. just a day after the awards for an interview for iHeartRadio, for which they are also nominated in the station's iHeartRadio Music Awards taking place next month. The group is nominated in the Best Music Video category for their song "Boy With Luv" featuring singer-songwriter Halsey.

The latest announcement follows the BTS 2018 album Love Yourself: Answer being officially certified as a platinum record by The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) this week. The album was declared to be certified gold last year by the RIAA.

Last November, BTS fans were outraged to see BTS snubbed in this year's Grammy Award nominations, being shunned in a host of categories including Album of the Year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Record of the Year and Best World Album.

The 2020 Grammy Awards, hosted by Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Alicia Keys, will take place on January 26 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, with red carpet arrivals starting at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.

The show will be aired live on CBS and can be streamed live on CBS.com through its CBS All Access service.

The new album by BTS—Map of the Soul: 7—will be released on February 21.
