What Did Kate Middleton Name Her Son? Baby Name Odds Revealed

Prince William and Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, welcomed their third child—a son—on Monday, Kensington Palace announced.

In a statement, the palace said: "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 11:01. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well."

The baby boy's name has yet to be revealed. However, that hasn't stopped the public from placing bets on what the new royal's name will be.

British betting company Ladbrokes took bets for the name of the couple's youngest child, and as of Monday, people were putting the bulk of their money on the name Arthur with 6/4 odds. Some of the speculation surrounding the name Arthur may stem from the fact that royals typically name their children after other members of the family, of which the name Arthur is common. Not to mention, William and his brother Prince Harry both carry Arthur as their middle name.

Meanwhile, the name James comes in close second with 5/1 odds, while Albert lags behind in third with 6/1. Other name options folks are betting on: Philip, Thomas, Alexander and Henry. Surprisingly, the odds for the couple naming their new child after his father William seem to be incredibly low among the public, with a 25/1 chance.

Middleton and her new son are expected to leave St. Mary's Hospital in London, where the baby was born, and rejoin their family at Kensington Palace on Monday evening.

The new baby joins the couple's other two children, 4-year-old Prince George and Princess Charlotte, who turns 3 in May. Although George was in school and Charlotte was at Kensington Palace during the time of their little brother's birth, both children have since visited their mother and new sibling at the hospital.
