Why Did Kathy Griffin and Boyfriend Randy Brick Breakup? Comedian Announces Split' on Twitter

Kathy Griffin and her boyfriend Randy Brick have broken up. The 55-year-old comedian revealed the couple’s decision to go their separate ways on Twitter on Thursday.

“God help me, but I’m gonna be one of those people who announces a breakup. After 7 years, Randy and I have decided to part ways,” Griffin wrote, noting their split wasn’t a bitter one. “It’s not acrimonious and I will always adore him. There, now those jerks at TMZ won’t get the story first. Go back to your bootlicking, @HarveyLevinTMZ.”

Griffin met the 38-year-old marketing executive at a food and wine festival in 2011. Despite their 18-year age difference, they hit it off instantly. Although, Griffin previously admitted she didn’t expect their meeting to result in anything more than just a one-night stand. “Because I thought he was just a man-whore, if you will,” Griffin told People magazine in a 2016 interview.

“So yeah, we’ve been together five years now, and we have a great time, and he’s very sweet and very mellow. He’s like a regular guy, you know, he’s like a real guy. He’s not like a Hollywood guy,” she continued.

Griffin’s career took a major hit back in 2017 after she posted a photo of herself holding a bloodied severed head in President Donald Trump’s likeness. Despite the several canceled tour dates, being fired by CNN from the network’s annual New Year’s Eve broadcast and losing many friends, Brick remained by Griffin’s side. Even Brick’s own brother unfriended him on Facebook because of the scandal, he revealed in The Hollywood Reporter’s profile of Griffin released in January.

Brick also served as her tour manager for her recent Laugh Your Head Off World Tour comedy tour, which not only raked in several millions of dollars but ultimately marked Griffin’s big comeback.
