Minutes later, Griffin shared the tweet with her own angry attack on Trump, in which she called the president a "piece of sh*t" and concluded with "f*** you."
"Take his name out of your mouth you piece of sh*t," she wrote. Griffin pointed out that Trump had "maligned" McCain's "military service" and accused the president of having done "everything to avoid serving."
"You attacked him repeatedly while you knew he was dying. And you cozied up to Putin while he did everything he could to oppose him," she added.

McCain became a prominent critic of Trump during his final days in the Senate, countering him on a range of issues from healthcare, to Russia and North Korea. In response, the president took an often combative stance, even attacking the dying senator at a rally last week.
Griffin also has a history of publicly attacking Trump. In May of last year, CNN fired the comedian from its annual New Year's Eve broadcast after a firestorm of criticism she drew for posing in photographs holding up the likeness of a bloody, severed head resembling the president. Initially, Griffin apologized for the photos but later recanted, maintaining a harshly oppositional stance toward the Trump administration ever since.
The comedian has capitalized on the controversy, using the incident as material for her world tour which launched internationally last year. It then opened in the U.S. in May. She also wore a Trump mask during an appearance at the annual Aid for AIDS fundraiser Best in Drag Show in Los Angeles in October.
Fuck you, Melanie. You know damn well your husband can end this immediately...you feckless complicit piece of shit. https://t.co/5NsoFgMuLr

In June, she broadened her criticism, attacking first lady Melania Trump by calling her a "feckless complicit piece of shit." In a tweet, which shared the first lady's statement about family separations at the U.S. border, Griffin began by writing "F*** you Melania."
The very next day, she went after Trump on Twitter, writing "Go F*** Yourself You F***ing Liar" as a comment to a tweet from the president blaming Democrats for the uproar against the policy that separated children from their parents at the border.
