Kellyanne Conway Says Nancy Pelosi is on 'Impeachment Ego Trip' and It's 'Embarrassing' USCMA Trade Deal Isn't Done

Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway accused House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of going on an "impeachment ego trip" to remove President Donald Trump and putting the U.S. in an "embarrassing" position before Mexico and Canada as the countries await Congress to approve a trade deal between the three nations.

On Tuesday's Fox & Friends, show co-host Brian Kilmeade referenced a statement from Pelosi that Democrats are "within range" of a deal on the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement Trade Agreement (USMCA). Trump, the Mexican president and Canadian prime minister signed the agreement late last year, but it has not been ratified by Congress as Democrats negotiate issues like labor and the environment.

"Well, Nancy Pelosi is under enormous pressure to make good on her stated promise that they were going to vote on USMCA by the 'end of October.' Last I checked the calendar, November 26 was the end of November," Conway told Kilmeade. "But the intervening, superseding circumstances has been this impeachment ego trip for Democrats who are in safe districts like her and [House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam] Schiff."

Conway, who was speaking from the White House press briefing room, said Pelosi "should do this" and that the USMCA would be "great" for American farmers and automobile manufacturers, buyers and workers, as well as the economy.

"Just yesterday, Mexico again was urging Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House, to put on the vote," Conway continued. "How embarrassing is it to America that Mexico and Canada long ago approved the USMCA deal for this continent, for this hemisphere and they're waiting on the U.S. Congress, and they turn on the TV or flip on the internet, and they say, 'This is what you're spending your time?'"

Conway added that Pelosi is "under enormous pressure to have some wins other than trying to impeach the president or having a resolution to condemn a tweet." The counselor to Trump said that was the extent of Pelosi's work in the 10 months since she became House speaker. "She and the squad have squat to show for it," Conway said.

By contrast, the Trump administration has been "pushing forward all of the promises the president made," Conway claimed.

Earlier in the show, Fox & Friends co-host Steve Doocy opined that Pelosi would not get the USMCA up for a vote by the end of the year "because it would be giving the president a win at the same time that she's trying to impeach him."

Kilmeade was more optimistic, speculating that the legislative time between Thanksgiving and Christmas could be the best time for Pelosi to move forward with the deal while fewer Americans may be watching and crediting Trump.

"Don't you want to do it when no one's looking?" Kilmeade said. "People are so focused on Cracker Barrel and Christmas they're not going to be saying, 'Did USMCA pass? Who deserved credit for that?' So that's my hope."

Last week, Pelosi said that wrapping up the USMCA could extend into 2020.
