'Kena: Bridge of Spirits': How Long to Beat and Side Content List

Kena: Bridge of Spirits is a narrative-driven game with a small, interconnected world that you can explore at your own pace. It is also the debut outing for its development team, Ember Lab, so you should probably not go in expecting anything too vast in scale or length.

On the contrary, Kena: Bridge of Spirits is a short but sweet experience. Although a playthrough will necessitate a certain amount of backtracking - and you will want to do at least some of the side activities to purchase upgrades in the skill tree - you can easily reach the end credits over a weekend.

How Long Is 'Kena: Bridge of Spirits'?

As with many contemporary games, the duration of a Kena: Bridge of Spirits playthrough will depend on how much of its optional content you choose to engage with.

A story-focussed run will probably only last about 7 hours (on the default difficulty setting), but you would be missing out on a lot of the title's best areas and moments. Indeed, there are a handful of secret locations in the game that you can totally miss if you are not looking hard enough or if you just rigidly follow the waypoints set on your map.

While there are not really any traditional side quests here, there are plenty of collectables, archery tests and combat challenges to run through. In our review, we mentioned that hunting down the Rot characters was the most addictive and enjoyable part of the game, so you definitely do not want to skip that.

Taking this into account, we would estimate that a reasonably comprehensive playthrough of Kena: Bridge of Spirits will take you closer to 9 or 10 hours and that a completionist run will be around 12 or 13 hours.

Of course, your playtime will also vary depending on how quickly you manage to solve puzzles, how often you stop to interact with the Rot and how long you spend gazing at the beautifully rendered environments in photo mode.

In terms of the main storyline, there are three spirits that you need to help, each of which requires you to find three relics. They also have "memories" (of which there are 10) that you can find to shed more light on their respective backstories, but these are optional.
