Kid Cudi Mourns the Death of His Beloved Dog Freshie

Kid Cudi is today mourning the death of his beloved dog Freshie, who he has described as "such a best friend in [his] life."

The rapper—whose real name is Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi—shared a moving tribute to the bulldog on Instagram, speaking of the joy his late pet brought him over the past decade, especially during some tough times.

"I got some sad news yall. Freshie is gone. He left us a few days ago peacefully at home surrounded by people that love him. His family," Cudi wrote in his caption. "I held his hand and whispered in his ear to let him know I was there while he slipped away. I told him he was a special boy, my best friend, that he was perfect and that I loved him and Ill miss him so so much. I felt his heart stop beating and felt his last breath. Fresh has been in my life since 2010."

The 37-year-old said he truly nervous around dogs until he got Freshie in 2010 while starring in HBO series How To Make It In America.

"After I got Freshie, I was wayyy more comfortable w the dogs onset," he continued. "It worked. But at the time I had no idea I would have such a best friend in my life. He's been here for 11 years, and my life has been one hell of a rollercoaster this whole time. Freshie was with me through it all everyday. He loved me. He really did."

Cudi also referred to Freshie as his "guardian angel" and spoke of times when he suffered periods of bad mental health that his pet's presence helped him through.

"My life will be a lil more empty with him gone. To anyone that has lost a pet, I feel your pain," he added.

Regarding his music career, Cudi later tweeted that Freshie was "around for every album since WZRD," and that he has an upcoming song dedicated to the much loved dog.

He added: "He was always there when I recorded at home. He was there for motm3 and this new stuff ive been cookin. The last song i did w him in the studio is called FRESHIE, and I cant wait for u to hear."
