Kobe Bryant Memorial Service: How to Watch, Live Stream 'Celebration of Life' On Monday
The NBA community, the entire city of Los Angeles and the world of U.S. sport as a whole will come to a standstill on Monday to pay tribute to the late Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna.
The "Celebration of Life" memorial for the late Los Angeles Lakers star and his 13-year-old daughter will be held from 10 a.m. PT (1 p.m. ET) on Monday morning at the Staples Center, the arena Bryant called home during his 20-year career in the NBA.
The five-time NBA champion and his daughter Gianna died along with seven other people on January 26 when the helicopter they were flying in crashed in Calabasas, California, northwest of Los Angeles.
Tickets for the service have long sold out—over 88,000 ticket applications were submitted within five hours of them going on sale—and people without a ticket have been urged by organizers to stay away from the Staples Center, to allow the memorial to proceed as planned.
Streets around the arena will be closed off to allow security and traffic control and the memorial will not be broadcast on the screens outside the Staples Center.
The memorial will start at 10 a.m. PT (1 p.m. ET) and is expected to last for approximately three hours.
A number of networks will provide coverage of the service, with live streams also available via most network websites.
TV coverage
Coverage will kick off on ABC7 at 9 a.m. PT, while FOX 11's coverage will get underway at 10 a.m. PT, as part of a special edition of its Good Day LA show live from the Staples Center.
The home of the Los Angeles Lakers will also provide the backdrop to the Entertainment Tonight's live coverage, which is set to begin at 8 a.m. PT and will be anchored by Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner.
Both FOX 11 and Entertainment Tonight will broadcast the entire memorial uninterrupted and the latter will air a complete recap of the event on Monday night.
Coverage on both NBA TV and BET Networks begins at 10 a.m. PT. At 1 p.m. PT, BET will broadcast Kobe Bryant's Muse documentary, with a look at Bryant's life off the court entitled Kobe: Father, Husband, Legend to air at 6 p.m. PT.
Meanwhile, coverage on E! begins at 9:30 a.m. PT. The network will have Jason Kennedy, Nina Parker and Victor Cruz in studio, along with Alexis Morgan and Will Marfuggi reporting from Staples Center.
Live stream
Live stream will be available via ABC7, FOX11 and CNN's website. Coverage of the memorial service will also be available online via NBA TV, BET Networks' digital platforms and via CBS All Access—the latter service requires a subscription for viewing.
