A woman who said she is a labor and delivery nurse and shared a video hoping for White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt to experience physical trauma during childbirth is no longer employed, a hospital network has told Newsweek.
"The comments made in a social media video by a nurse at one of our facilities do not reflect our values or the standards we expect of health care professionals. Following a prompt review, the individual is no longer employed by our health system," Baptist Health South Florida said after the video received significant backlash and criticism.
Why It Matters
Leavitt announced that she is pregnant with her second child, a baby girl, last month in a post on Instagram. She said she the baby is due in May.

“My husband and I are thrilled to grow our family and can’t wait to watch our son become a big brother. My heart is overflowing with gratitude to God for the blessing of motherhood, which I truly believe is the closest thing to Heaven on Earth,” Leavitt wrote. “I am also extremely grateful to President Trump and our Chief of Staff Susie Wiles for their support, and for fostering a pro-family environment in the White House. 2026 is going to be a great year and I am so excited to be a girl mom!”

What To Know
An X user shared a video on Thursday in which a woman says, “As a labor and delivery nurse, it gives me great joy to wish Karoline Leavitt a fourth-degree tear. I hope that you f****** rip from bow to stern and never s*** normally again, you c***.”
The X post was reposted by Republican Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer, who wrote, "I was in touch with hospital leadership as soon as I learned this afternoon and have been informed that this person is no longer employed there."
The initial post that was shared by Singer alleged that the woman’s name is Lexie Lawler and that she is a labor and delivery nurse at Baptist Health Boca Raton Regional Hospital. A LinkedIn page with that name shows a woman who was an obstetrics and gynecology nurse at Baptist Health Boca Raton Regional Hospital. Florida Department of Health records say that Alexis Lawler received a nursing license in 2014, and it is currently active until April.
Lawler declined to comment when contacted by Newsweek.
Newsweek also reached out to the White House for comment.
What People Are Saying
Baptist Health South Florida, in comments to Newsweek: "While we respect the right to personal opinions, there is no place in health care for language or behavior that calls into question a caregiver’s ability to provide compassionate, unbiased care. We are committed to an environment that promotes trust, professionalism and respect for all."
Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer, on X: "These disgusting comments have no place in medicine or in our community."
