Lady Gaga Snubbed at Oscar Nominations as 'House of Gucci' Shut Out

Lady Gaga has been snubbed at the Oscars this year after the performer failed to receive a nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role for House of Gucci.

The performer, real name Stefani Germanotta, portrayed Patrizia Reggiani in the Ridley Scott-directed film, which followed the iconic fashion family and the murder of Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver) for control of the brand.

Jessica Chastain, Olivia Colman, Penélope Cruz, Nicole Kidman and Kristen Stewart have all been nominated in the highly contested category.

Film buffs and Lady Gaga fans alike have been reacting with shock to Tuesday's Oscars upset on social media.

"breathe if you agree that lady gaga deserved to be nominated as best actress at the #Oscars," reads one tweet.

While Kyle Buchanan of The New York Times tweeted: "Kristen Stewart nominated over Lady Gaga... should be a fun day on the internet."

BAFTA nominations were unveiled last week with Gaga receiving a nod for Best Actress. The "Judas" singer also earned Best Actress nominations for the rest of the Oscar predecessors SAG, the Golden Globes and Critics Choice, making Tuesday's snub all the more shocking.

Following her BAFTA nomination, Gaga told fans on Instagram that the nod was "unexpected and absolute dream come true."

Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan hosted the nominations event and read out the names on Tuesday.

The 94th Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, March 27 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles.

The ceremony will have a host this year for the first time since 2017.

Jane Campion's The Power of the Dog and Dune, directed by Denis Villeneuve, are expected to win big this year—with Belfast and West Side Story also earning several nominations.
