LAFC vs. Atlanta United: Where to Watch, Live Stream, Team News and Latest Odds

With few exceptions, Los Angeles FC's engine has run at full revs throughout the season but it coughed and spluttered against the Los Angeles Galaxy last week.

LAFC's march towards the MLS Shield hit a rare red light in El Trafico, as the Black and Gold lost 3-2 against its Zlatan Ibrahimovic-inspired local rivals.

The good news for LAFC is that it remains comfortably ahead of the chasing pack, with a nine-point buffer over the closest Western Conference rivals and a seven-point margin over the Eastern Conference leaders.

The not-so-good news for the newest MLS' franchise is that on Friday it welcomes another team eager to test its title credentials in the shape of Atlanta United.

The defending champions' season has so far been hard to decipher. Atlanta won once in its first five MLS games this season, before winning seven of the next nine matches.

Atlanta kept a clean sheet in each of those seven games, but then conceded 10 in the next three. The rollercoaster now appears to be on an upward trajectory again, as the defending champions have won their last two games, scoring seven goals in the process and conceding none.

Having narrowly lost his personal battle with Ibrahimovic in the Los Angeles derby, Carlos Vela faces another pretender to the throne of best striker in the MLS—Josef Martinez.

The Mexican has scored 21 goals this season for LAFC—including two in last week's derby—while the Venezuelan has netted 16 times so far and the winner of this particular duel could go a long way towards determining the outcome of the game.

Here's everything you need to know ahead of Friday.
