Lara Trump Says Americans Are 'Lucky' the Left Lets Them Have Thanksgiving

Lara Trump suggested on the eve of Thanksgiving that Americans were lucky that they were still allowed to celebrate the annual holiday and criticized the left for wanting to "fundamentally transform" the country.

Trump, who is former President Donald Trump's daughter-in-law, was speaking on Fox News Wednesday during a discussion about inflation and the cost of the Thanksgiving turkey to Hannity guest host Pete Hegseth.

Former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury Monica Crowley said that President Joe Biden's administration doesn't actually care about inflation because they are focused on "the fundamental transformation of the nation."

"So they have a broader ideological agenda here, to remake the economy, reengineer the relationship between the government, the individual, and the economy," Crowley said.

Hegseth mentioned "the left" and appeared to criticize the focus on climate change and multi-trillion-dollar spending bills.

"How dare you quibble over a couple of dollars," Hegseth said sarcastically.

Trump made specific reference to the cost of turkeys and recent comments by White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki about the matter.

"You heard Jen Psaki there say, well, it's the turkey—it's about a dollar more for 20 pounds," Trump said. "It's a lot more than that. But it's everything, Pete. Everything costs more now. So it's not just the turkey."

The price of turkeys has risen 21 percent since last year, according to the Department of Agriculture, while the Thanksgiving meal will cost 14 percent more this year.

Trump, who is married to Eric Trump, said that Crowley's comments had been "spot on" and echoed her remarks about a "transformation" of the U.S.

"They have told us from the beginning that they want to fundamentally transform America," Trump said. "Well, how do you that? You have to change America from the inside out. You have to take away our traditions.

"So it might seem a little funny and a little ridiculous. 'Oh, don't have a turkey, then people won't come over.' Last year, remember, they didn't want us to get together, so I guess we're lucky they're letting us have Thanksgiving this year," she said.

Hegseth put in sarcastically: "That's true, we should thank them."

"At really, the core of this, they want to divide Americans up," Trump went on.

"They don't want us to have any common ground. They don't want us to have any shared traditions like Thanksgiving. A lot of places last month actually did away with Halloween because they wanted to be inclusive of the people that didn't celebrate Halloween," she said, defending Halloween.

"But it all goes to fundamentally transforming this country, and the way you do that is you make sure that we have no commonality whatsoever, no traditions as Americans whatsoever," Trump went on.

"You start chipping away at that, and they don't care that Thanksgiving costs a lot more, whether you're driving to somebody's house this year, paying for all that food on the table —they don't care. Joe Biden is certainly happy right now where he is for Thanksgiving."
