Ring Doorbell Video Films Man Threatening To Rape, Kill Woman

A suspect has been arrested in Las Vegas after disturbing Ring doorbell camera footage showing a man threatening to rape and kill a woman at her home went viral.

Amanda Nowak shared footage of a man intimidating her while he stood on her doorstep onto Facebook on July 21.

During the clip, the man, whom Nowak did not know, knocks on the door and repeatedly states: "I just have a couple of questions for you" and "are you sure?"

Eventually Nowak's husband uses the Ring system to talk to the man, asking him: "Who are you?"

The suspect then walks towards the camera and says: "What I'm looking for is the girl that's in the house here, because I'm going to rape her and kill her."

The man also claims he also has a knife and a gun while continuing to threaten Nowak.

Soon the man walks away and continues talking to himself, including still asking: "Are you sure?"

Posting the footage on Facebook, Nowak wrote: "So this happened tonight... pretty scary! I was home alone. You'll hear my husband jump on the Ring after a bit, he wasn't here... I was hiding where this guy couldn't see me and I never said a word.. that whole beginning he's just talking to himself.

"Police were called, the lady from 911 stayed on the line until the cops got here. File was reported and I showed him the video...Hubby is home now. Lock your doors friends!!"

Nowak's Facebook post has since been shared more than 89,000 times, with the video viewed more than 2.5 million times.

The Las Vegas Police Department confirmed a suspect has since been taken into custody in connection to the incident outside Nowak's home.

LVMPD Officer Misael Parra told Fox 5 that the department received a call regarding a suspicious person at around 8:38 p.m. on July 21.

A man was then arrested at around 8:43 a.m. the following morning after someone recognized him from the viral video in the area of E. Clark Avenue and S. 3rd Street.

"The citizen advised a nearby Deputy City Marshal and the suspect was taken into custody," police said.

The suspect was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on charges of aggravated stalking, coercion, and obstructing a public officer.

The suspect has still not been identified and is currently listed only as "John Doe." Police say they will release further details on the arrest as the investigation continues.

In an update to her original Facebook post, Nowak thanked the public for their help in getting the suspect detained.

"The power of community using social media is strong and this proves so," she wrote. "Thank you everyone! I'm just glad he's off the streets, and can't harm anyone else."

The Las Vegas Police Department has been contacted for comment.
