Animal lovers have been left in stitches by a young German shepherd dog who discovered a spot of light on the floor and was determined to get to the bottom of it.

Goose the GSD has thousands of followers on her dedicated TikTok account, @goosetheshephard, where her owner has been posting videos of her since she was a puppy.

Now a clip of Goose investigating a tiny spotlight on the ground has been viewed more than 144,000 times, since being posted on April 1.

In the video, sunlight outside is blocked by a pair of curtains, but one tiny spot has streamed through—and Goose is completely fascinated by it.

She scratches at the floor as though trying to pick the light up, her head bent to get as close a look at it as possible, before taking several steps back, her tail wagging furiously.

As she approaches it from a different angle, she inadvertently blocks the source of the light, and the spot disappears—and she paws at the floor where it used to be, appearing confused.

When the spot of light reappears, Goose takes a different approach, this time putting her nose to the floor and licking the spot of light—and when that doesn't do anything, she returns to the old reliable of attacking it with her paws.

Goose's owner wrote in the caption: "Ik [I know] my dog is not the only one that does this."

And TikTok users assured her their dogs were the very same, one writing: "Mine used to do that too, laser pointers too!"

One shared: "Mine's obsessed with shadows and does arctic fox jumps on them."

And another revealed they had to "put up blackout curtains" to stop the light getting in and distracting their dog.

While Goose's interest was in a spot of light that was not moving, many dogs may react to the movement of a laser pointer, as it triggers their prey drive, leading them to want to chase it.

However, it can cause anxiety and frustration in the dog, as the chase can't be satisfied with a catch at the end, as it would be with toys or food, the American Kennel Club (AKC) warns.

Goose's owner described the video as "German shepherd core." The breed is known to be affectionate, confident and smart, and make gentle family pets, according to the AKC.
