The unlikeliest of heroes led the Los Angeles Dodgers to a series win over the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League Division Series.

Lost in the shuffle of the series win for the Dodgers were the struggles of superstar Shohei Ohtani. Because of Los Angeles' postseason success, Ohtani's stats are often overlooked, but it is time they are pointed out.

Ohtani struggled in a major way against the Phillies, going 1-for-18 with just two walks and nine strikeouts. Since his to home runs in Game 1 of the NL Wild Card Series against the Cincinnati Reds, Ohtani has not recorded an extra-base hit in 22 at-bats.

The postseason struggles from Ohtani date back to last season when he slashed .230/.373/.390 during the Dodgers' run to their second World Series win in the last five seasons. Combine that slash line with the current slash line for Ohtani this postseason and his career line in the postseason sits at .214/.340/.405 headed into the NLCS.

With the amount of flack that New York Yankees superstar Aaron Judge has caught for his postseason struggles, it is a bit odd that Ohtani has not faced the same amount of criticism for his struggles. Yes, he adds value to the team with his pitching, but his lackluster performance at the plate has been a bit of an issue.

Ohtani will certainly have his chance to shine in the NLCS, and it'll come against either the Chicago Cubs or Milwaukee Brewers, teams he's had great success against in his career.
