Lincoln Project Says Kushner and Trump are 'Entitled, Out-of-Touch Bullies' in Response to Billboard Lawsuit Threat

The Lincoln Project has said it will keep billboards featuring Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump up despite the couple's threat to sue. The conservative group, which is opposed to President Donald Trump's re-election, mocked Trump and Kushner on Twitter.

Ivanka Trump, the president's eldest daughter, and her husband Jared Kushner appear on billboards in New York's Time Square. One billboard shows Ivanka smiling and gesturing to numbers showing 33,000 New Yorkers have died from COVID-19 along with 220,000 Americans.

Kushner, who is also a senior adviser to the president, is depicted on an adjacent billboard with body bags and is quoted as saying New Yorkers "are going to suffer and that's their problem."

Kushner and Trump threatened to sue if the billboards aren't taken down. The Lincoln Project shared attorney Mark E. Kasowitz' letter on Twitter.

"I am writing concerning the false, malicious and defamatory ads that the Lincoln Project is displaying on billboards in Times Square," Kasowitz wrote.

"If these billboards are not immediately removed, we will sue you for what will doubtless be enormous compensatory and punitive damages."

"Nuts!" the Lincoln Project's Twitter account said of the letter. They later issued a defiant statement saying they would not remove the billboards and doubling down on their criticism.

"Jared and Ivanka have always been entitled, out-of-touch bullies who have never given the slightest indication they have any regard for the American people," the group tweeted. "We plan on showing them the same level of respect."

"The level of indignant outrage Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump have shown towards The Lincoln Project for exposing their indifference for the more than 223,000 people who have lost their lives due to their reckless mismanagement of COVID-19 is comical," they said in a statement.

"While we truly enjoy living rent free in their heads, their empty threats will not be taken any more seriously than we take Ivanka and Jared.

"It is unsurprising that an administration that has never had any regard or understanding of our Constitution would try to trample on our first amendment rights but we fully intend on making this civics lesson as painful as possible."

"The billboards will stay up," the statement went on. "We consider it important that in Times Square, the crossroads of the world, people are continuously reminded of the cruelty, audacity and staggering lack of empathy the Trump's and Kushner's have displayed towards the American people."
